Designed specifically for the 8th “French Games”, Life of Pi is a show freely inspired by Yann Martel’s novel.

Life of Pi is the story of a boy who survives a shipwreck by spending eight months on the Pacific Ocean in a lifeboat with a tiger. Driven by a relentless desire to live and a vivid imagination, young Pi discovers that he possesses an interior strength larger than nature. Life of Pi is an innovative form of visual theatre that takes children of all ages on a marvelous journey filled with emotion and surprises.

Collectif Pi is a duo of young artist-puppeteers : director and visual designer Emilie Racine and mechancial designer and technical director Carl Vincent. Pi offers a creative form of experimental theatre marrying different languages with a focus on developing innovative manipulation techniques.

Collectif Pi represented Canada and won the Silver Medal in the ‘’Giant Puppets’’ discipline at the 8th Jeux de la Francophonie (Francophonie Games) in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in July 2017. In 2019, thanks to support from the Montreal Arts Council and the Maison de la Culture Mercier, the short 15 minutes version for outdoor was transformed into a 50 minutes theatrical performance.
